The more I watch the news about the BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms and Explosives) and the Fast and Furious, Gun Runner investigation, the more I think it is time to overhaul the Federal law enforcement agencies.
Many of the men and women who work for these agencies are great and honorable people who have dedicated their lives to public service and law enforcement and I salute them and say thank you.
However it would appear that as certain individuals move up through the ranks they develop a sense that they know better what needs to be enforced, than the law they are sworn to enforce. I will grant that some laws are stupid and should not be enforced, however when administrators in a law enforcement agency decide to violate the law to pursue a political agenda something has to be done. It is time for the US Congress to take a long hard look at the Federal Law Enforcement agencies, of which there are many.
Is it possible that some agencies have out lived there useful life and need to be abolished or merged with another agency to stream line enforcement. The BATFE has long history of trying to go undercover into motorcycle gangs that trade in firearms, good idea, but the FBI has a very effective organized crime unit and motorcycle gangs that traffic guns are organized crime. The BATFE has a group that looks for smugglers of all types weapons, explosives, alcohol, tobacco, yet the are limited to working with in the USA and have a very small presence out side the borders of America. The DEA engages in anti-smuggling operations on a regular basis and we have operators with the DEA around the world. Trust me on this guns and drugs go together.
I could list many more examples, but I won't take up your valuable time. The question arises, what can I do about all this, simply put: write, call or email your elected Congressional Representative and Senator and ask them to investigate. You are slowly losing your freedoms unless you stand and stop the theft.
